Why Play Therapy?
Play Is The Child’s Language
Through play, a child is able to communicate, expand self-expression and self-actualization, and learn more about the world.
Healthy Development
Play is essential for healthy mental, physical, and social development.
Healing and Treatment
Play therapy is used to help children deal with difficult emotions, life events, social, emotional, and behavioral disorders. Some behavioral and social-emotional disorders that can be treated with play therapy include: ADHD, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, depression, autism spectrum, trauma, and grief, and many more.

Behind The Practice
I graduated in 1996 from the University of California, Santa Barbara, with a degree in Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology. Through my training, I developed my philosophy that it is not possible to draw a distinction between the populations served and the skills needed by Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychologists. Rather, I believe that the interdependence of social systems requires all psychologists to be familiar with the influences and workings of school systems, patterns of normal development, and aspects of psychopathology. This perspective allows me the opportunity to approach clients with a broader understanding and deeper empathy while collaborating with the many systems that shape their lives. I work extensively with teachers, administrators, family members, and community groups.
